Не работает. Потому что сочинитель не вносит изменения между библейским древнееврейским и поговоренным самомоднейшим Иврите. Например:

На русском языке: дурака пол робота не по показывают.
На Иврите: летипеш ло марьим хаци авода.

Вы никогда не будете находить это в библии. Есть сотниы, и можеть быть даже тысячи примеров как это. Другими словами, самомоднейшим Иврите является главным образом перевод русских разговорноых-народных выражений.

не совсем понимаю - что именно не работает?

What exactly doesn't work?

It seemed to me that this writer, perhaps driven by some religious convictions, seems to ignore the fact that Modern Hebrew is mainly based on Russian colloquial expressions. This was the language of the people of my father's generation, those responsible for establishing Hebrew as daily spoken idiom, away from the synagogue. BTW, there is an intense debate going on this very issue on the b-hebrew@lists.ibiblio.org mailing list.

As far as I could grasp, the author mainly discusses the Hebrew of Torah, at least in the given chapter. He may bring certain examples from the modern language, but in this case, as some would say, "exceptions only support the rule" :)
