I am not sure of the fine difference here, but the fact remains that you, ptrue, have tried to explain to him and to his wife that I did not say that his music was third rate, and only said that it became third rate by being played badly by so many. You understood me perfectly well, and even reminded him that he said pretty much the same things himself many times, but he chose to assume this posture of the injured party and use the occasion to throw garbage on the music of Orekhov and Olshansky, two composers I have published and who were (and still are) very dear to me. That was uncalled for and unacceptable. I feel sorry for the man, but obviously his attempts to protect his own image and to promote his music at the expense of other composers, is back firing on him.
Where I did insult him, was when I later removed him and his wife from my friends list. As I explained in my LJ, I have no need to read the writing of people who do not understand what I say, and choose to quote me out of context. What I did not realize is that the mere fact of this removal, is considered as a loss of face by Russians. Too bad. I'll be more careful next time.
