В субботу в одном из книжных магазинов наткнулся на перевод книги Льва Выготского "Мышление и речь" на английский.

Англоязычное предисловие меня потрясло, и я сфотографировал несколько страниц. Вот кусочек, показавшийся наиболее интересным:

Vygotsky did not hesitate to put poetic images in his
psychological works. He was particularly interested in the
poetic treatment of the agony endured when thought
seeks, but cannot find expression in, words*
. It is in the
context of that problem that the lines of the poets
Tiutchev, Gumilev, and Mandelstam appear in "Myshlenie i rech".

Philosophy was among Vygotsky's favourite subjects.
His lifelong interest in Spinoza was possibly prompted by
his sister Zinaida, who, while studying at Moscow Women's
University College, chose Spinoza as the topic of her
graduate paper. Vygotsky sought in Spinoza an alternative
to Cartesian** dualism, which, by splitting the human
being into machinelike body and spiritual mind, established
for centuries to come the conflict between material...
