Indian figure-of-eight nod

Visitors to India will notice that Indians have a typical shaking of the head action or "the Indian nod". This is not the "yes nod" as seen in Western societies. It is a circular "figure of eight" nod. Many take a group of Indians in a meeting or a training context smiling broadly, agreeing with everything you are saying and nodding in this way as a very positive sign of complete understanding and agreement. However, the Indian nod does not mean "yes" or "no", but simply "I'm enjoying this conversation, a relationship is being built, so please carry on - I am listening". Do not mistake this for agreement.

Можно подумать европейцы соглашаются, когда кивают головой "yes". ;) Та же ерунда - знак социального одобрения, а вовсе не осмысленного согласия.

Просто удобно, что для этой отдельной функции введён специальный жест - дабы не засорять уже зарезервированные смыслы.
